In cooperation with Waterski Vlaanderen, the first heat of the Ronix Junior Cup went ahead this weekend at Lakeside Paradise : a wakeboard competition for youngsters up to 18 years old.
Three more stops are scheduled this season (27/5 Wake Up Antwerp, 30/6 De Spin, 31/8 De Outsider) with the final on 20 September, also at Lakeside Paradise.
With a full complement of 35 wakeboarders including 31 gentlemen and only 4 ladies, the competition was judged by a 3-member Jury. So ladies wanted !
Each participant had to get on the water for 7 minutes and give their best.
It was especially looking forward to see how the "freshmen" , who until last year could compete in the U14 Hyperlite tour, were going to pull out of the fray against the yet somewhat "older" force.
In the Men's event, both Emiel Lauwers and Ike Vanleenhove of Lakeside Paradise (first and second at BK U14) managed to reach the final as "newbies". Emiel even won the final, Ike came third and Axel Aubry of De Spin came second.
Among the ladies, Cloe Allegaert and Norah Houwen of Lakeside Paradise snatched the first 2 places ahead of Fenne Roumans of Terhills.
Already a great start to the Ronix Tour on a sun-drenched day. The spectators on the terrace and on the banks enjoyed it to the full as these youngsters already provided quite a spectacle, they are the future of the Belgian cable wakeboard scene.
